The Ministry of Finance's consolidated budget revenues (excluding consolidation) show that fare evasion fines on public transport doubled in Q1 2026 year-on-year.

According to the report, revenue from fare evasion fines amounted to 846,441 GEL in January-March of the current year against 396,628 GEL in the same period of 2025.

Since the fine for riding without a ticket is 20 GEL, Tbilisi Transport Company's municipal controllers handed out as many as 43,000 fines after their checks.
