The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia is requesting that former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili be granted bail in the amount of 1 million GEL as a preventive measure.

As Prosecutor General Giorgi Gvarakidze noted at the briefing, the former Prime Minister pleads guilty to the charges.

"Irakli Gharibashvili was charged under Article 194, Part 3, Subparagraph "C" of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies legalization of illegal income, and receipt of an especially large amount of income. The defendant fully pleaded guilty to the charges. The Prosecutor's Office petitioned the court to grant bail in the amount of 1 million GEL as a preventive measure, which can be secured both with cash and real estate.

"Along with the preventive measure, the Prosecutor's Office requested the imposition of additional obligations on the defendant, such as confiscating him of his Georgian passport and prohibiting him from traveling outside the country," Gvarakidze said.
