Fruit processing enterprises in Shida Kartli, Kvemo Kartli, Kakheti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Racha-Lechkhumi in the Kvemo Svaneti region are collecting non-standard apples in the frames of the state program.
Within the state program, substandard apples are being collected by fruit processing enterprises in Shida Kartli, Kvemo Kartli, Kakheti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Racha-Lechkhumi in the Kvemo Svaneti region.
As of October 21, 14 fruit processing enterprises involved in the state program have collected more than 14,000 tons of substandard apples. Farmers received more than 4 million GEL in income.
As part of the state program, the Rural Development Agency will issue a subsidy of GEL 0.10 per kilogram of non-standard apples. The state subsidy will be provided to fruit processing companies that purchase non-standard apples from farmers for at least GEL 0.25 per kilogram by December 15, 2024.
To ensure the smooth implementation of the program, a special working group will be created to coordinate the apple delivery process on-site.
The state program to support the sale of non-standard apples was launched on September 9 this year.
