The textile industry is still facing crisis: the export of clothing manufactured in Georgia declines month after month, as foreign buyers’s no longer show interest in Georgia. Business representatives say that, amid declining export revenues, a lot of garment factories have already shut down, leaving the industry in a precarious situation.

Natalia Chkheidze, the founder of Unistyle, notes that investors have lost interest in the Georgian market due to instability.

This trend has been steadily geveloping for some time, and during this period, it can be said that the sector has essentially stagnated.

Just two days ago, I met with representatives from Turkey that are esteemed individuals who have a proposal for us; we need to introduce new fabrics and technologies. During our discussion, I asked about the current situation with exports and received a straightforward response concerning a fear factor.

Stability is very important not only in terms of export, but also in the domestic market. In reality the fear factor among investors is significant and everyone is reluctant to invest in Georgia. No one will come here to order products for 5,000 and 10,000 dollars, here the minimum amounts start from 100,000 dollars and go up to millions of dollars. Everyone is no longer willing to pour such amounts here,” - says Natalia Chkheidze, Unistyle founder.
