“The wheat harvest in Georgia has ended, but nothing has changed for the local production. Prices for the Georgian grain are low and it is not almost sold,” Nikoloz Beniaidze, the Chairman of the Association of Grain Producers, says.
At the same time, this year’s harvest is quite meager.
“Nothing has changed for us. The prices for the local grain are low, it is almost not sold, the hail has damaged not very good harvest. The mills, which protested against wheat imports from Russia, are now operating smoothly, but they do not buy our grain preferring imports from Russia. The domestic wheat is sold at a price below cost, the mills use the Russian grain,” Nikoloz Beniaidze notes.
