US President Donald Trump has claimed that Ukraine would "not have lasted one or two days" in its war with Russia without American weapons and equipment.

Trump speaking to journalists at the White House, as reported by European Pravda

"Without our military and our equipment, Ukraine wouldn't be alive to fight today. I mean, just in terms of the question. We gave them hundreds of billions of dollars worth of equipment and the best equipment. And we make the best equipment anywhere in the world. But they wouldn't have lasted one or two days."

Trump also referred to the transfer of anti-tank missiles to Ukraine, likely meaning Javelin portable anti-tank missile systems that were sold to Kyiv during Trump's first term.

"Remember the anti-tank missiles, remember that? When the tanks got stuck in the mud, and then they went around and boom-boom-boom-boom. And those were given by yours truly. They said, 'Obama gave sheets and Trump gave one of the most devastating weapons'," the US president said.

The US House of Representatives on 4 June passed a bill providing military assistance to Ukraine, support for reconstruction and new sanctions against Russia.
