Overall, if we look at the data revealed by the labor market analysis, according to these data, approximately 14,400 students should enroll in universities annually, - this was stated by Georgia's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at the presentation of the labor market research results.

As the head of government noted, alignment with labor market demands will occur gradually.

If we strictly follow today's reality and labor market demands, the figure is 14,400. However, in the final tally, when the quotas were distributed, we took into account a 5-year perspective and also considered the current circumstances. For example, in the case of law, 3,600 enroll, while the demand is approximately 700 lawyers. However, the demand is so high that we cannot ignore it entirely, and accordingly, we decided to gradually reduce to this 700 figure - not abruptly, in order to avoid sharp resistance among applicants between existing demands and enrollment. We decided on a gradual transition to optimal figures; therefore, from 3,600 we are not dropping sharply to 700, but to 1,500 first, and then gradually the appropriate balancing of data will be ensured. There are cases where demand is higher than the current number of enrollees, but there are problems in other aspects of the higher education system - for example, a deficit of appropriately highly qualified academic personnel. Therefore, in such cases, we decided to gradually increase the number of enrollees from year to year up to the optimal indicator.

We have data indicating that ideally 14,400 students should be enrolled in universities, but taking into account the factors I mentioned, in the end, admission will be announced for 21,300 students. Accordingly, we are exceeding the optimal figure provided by the labor market analysis by 50 percent. We must gradually ensure full alignment between labor market demands and the student enrollment rate,” - stated Irakli Kobakhidze.
