The microfinance sector finished the year with a net profit of GEL 139.6 million, a 4% increase over the same period last year. In Q4 2024, microfinance institutions' net profit reached GEL 133.6 million.
The loan portfolio of microfinance organizations saw an annual decrease of GEL 77 million after two major MFOs, MBC and "Crystall," transitioned to microbanks. In the fourth quarter of 2025, the total volume of loans issued by microfinance organizations reached GEL 1.893 billion. This is a decrease from the corresponding period in 2024, when the figure exceeded GEL 1.970 billion.
The majority of loans issued by microfinance institutions are still granted to individuals. As of the fourth quarter of last year, loans totaling GEL 1.871 billion were issued to individuals. The volume of loans granted to legal entities stand at 21 million.
NBG reports that as of the fourth quarter of 2025, there are 29 microfinance organizations operating in the market.
