"The market of traditional stores is dead, and I can’t deliver products anywhere," Jano Kutsia, Commercial Director of Barambo company, said at a parliamentary commission hearing on prices.
He pointed out during the price research commission's meeting that the chains have placed stores in a non-competitive situation.
"A major retail chain demanded a 'partial refund of spent funds' from us in exchange for large sales volumes, and we provided it. These chains reflected this 'refund' in their prices, making the goods very cheap, and traditional district stores became uncompetitive. They fell out of this strategy. When we say that 40% of the FMCG sector is occupied solely by modern trade or retail chains, and 60% by traditional ones, that's already a mistake,"Jano Kutsia points out.
