Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday claimed the domestic opposition was “so dependent” on external actors that they did not even have an election campaign ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26.

In his remarks, Mdinaradze noted that the opposition was waiting for “something” from the outside, or “provocations” inside the country, which in their opinion could “theoretically” change the situation.

This is the first election, when we do not see the opposition on the so-called [election] field at all. They are so dependent on external actors that they practically do not conduct an election campaign. They cannot go to villages, cities, districts, they do not have an election campaign. None of the parties has even nominated a delegate. They are waiting for something from the outside, or provocations [inside the country], which in their opinion can theoretically change the situation. Their silence on the election field is the sign of this”, Mdinaradze said.
