Commersant reports that Aversi is pulling out of the insurance market. A source told the media holding that Aversi’s subsidiary- insurance company Alfa - will be bought by Global Benefits Georgia.
"Insurance Company "Alfa", an "Aversi" medical holding subsidiary, was founded on June 2, 2009. Operating with 100% Georgian capital, the company offers licensed insurance for individuals and businesses, including small, medium, and large companies.
There are currently 19 companies operating in the Georgian insurance market, which collected 1,098 million GEL in insurance premiums and recorded a net profit of 113 million GEL during the first 9 months of 2025.
Despite the considerable scope of Aversi's activities in the pharmaceutical and medical markets, its subsidiary insurance company, Alfa, has not held a leading position in the sector.
Alfa's profit for the first nine months of 2025 totaled just 358,928 GEL, ranking it 17th in the market. "Commersant" reports that this low profit figure is behind Aversi's exit from the insurance market. Talks were held with several companies, but an agreement was eventually sreached with Global Benefits Georgia.
"Commersant" journalists approached Nina Kobakhidze, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of "Global Benefits Georgia" insurance company, for comment on this matter, she refused to answer their questions, citing commercial confidentiality.
