“I would like to extend my heartfelt, albeit belated, congratulations to our Muslim fellow citizens on Eid al-Fitr and the celebration of the arrival of spring - Novruz Bayram,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to Kobakhidze, this year these holidays coincided with a very difficult period for the country - the passing of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II and the days of national mourning. The Prime Minister thanked the Muslim community for canceling festive events in response to the Patriarch’s death.
“I express special gratitude to the Muslim community for their sincere compassion, for sharing our common grief, and for canceling celebratory events during these days. We will never forget this brotherly support.
It is precisely in times of hardship and joy that standing together forms the solid foundation on which our unity rests. For centuries, our ancestors built Georgia’s history side by side, and today, our generation continues to build its better future together.
His Holiness always treated the Muslim community with particular respect and brotherly love. He himself was a living example of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and tolerance. We consider it our foremost duty to continue this great legacy.
Once again, I congratulate you on these important holidays. I wish peace, health, and prosperity to your families!” the Prime Minister stated.
