The beach season is in full swing. During this period, Batumi is one of the main tourist attractions, although this year the seaside city is experiencing a shortage of vacationers. The hotels are practically empty. "There are very few people this year. The hotel is practically empty," a representative of the Iberia Hotel told Commersant. According to him, only 10 of the 70 rooms are currently occupied, the hotel also has no reservations.

"Our guests were mostly Kazakhs and Belarusians, although this year Belarusians did not come to us at all. Kazakhs occupied 1-2 rooms. With the beginning of the war in Israel, they stopped coming. Now it is the middle of summer, and out of 70 rooms, 10 are occupied. Last year, there were many more vacationers. 40-50 rooms were occupied. In June, the hotel was completely empty. Last year, the occupancy rate was higher with reservations for this period. Now the hotel has no reservations at all," they say at the hotel.

Along with the lack of tourists, this season Batumi is experiencing a decline in the flow of European guests. A representative of the Iberia Hotel said that in previous years they had tourists from Germany, Italy and Poland, but this season the hotel has not accepted a single European vacationer. Also, fewer tourists from Israel visit Batumi due to the war in their country.

The hotel this year cut prices by 30%. They hoped that the cut price would attract tourists, but the expectations have not justified. There are only 2 months left until the end of the season. Due to the lack of reservations, the hotel representatives believe the season has failed.
