"At this stage, we are awaiting a construction permit for the Courtyard Marriott hotel in Kutaisi. Everything is ready to begin the demolition of the existing building and the construction of the hotel next year," Lasha Nikolaishvili, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rico Group states.
According to him, the hotel will have 120 rooms, the investment cost of the project will be around 35 million GEL.
Rico Group is set to construct a Courtyard Marriott hotel in downtown Kutaisi. This project will be realized through a franchise with Marriott International. We are currently in the final stages of approval. The project has successfully passed monument protection accreditation with the Agency of Cultural Heritage and Monument Protection, and the documentation has been forwarded to the Kutaisi City Hall, which, based on initial reports, has granted its consent.
"I think we'll receive the GAP confirmation (document outlining the terms of land use for construction) next week. After the New Year, we plan to demolish the building in the center of Kutaisi, next to the TBC Bank headquarters, and begin construction. The funds have already been raised, and I believe this will be a very positive addition, as there is no hotel of such athis level in Kutaisi, which will further boost the tourism development in the region."
The hotel will have 120 rooms. Apart from that, it is planned to arrange an outdoor swimming pool, a conference hall, as well as three food and beverage facilities, including restaurants serving European and Georgian cuisine. Furthermore, the project provides for an open-air café in the inner courtyard, which will be accessible both to hotel guests and city residents. Additionally, the complex will have an underground parking lot,” Lasha Nikolaishvili points out.
