The year 2025 was marked by instability in Georgia's agricultural sector, caused by unfavorable climatic conditions, specifically spring frosts and hail. Some farmers even lost their crops, while others had a more or less satisfactory yield.

According to Rati Kochlamazashvili, Deputy Chairman of the Farmers' Association, this year, farmers had a "normal" harvest for most crops.

"Given the diversity of Georgian agriculture,
the current year may be assessed according to each sector. For example, this year in Shida Kartli there were frosts, hail, and climatic problems that created certain difficulties in fruit cultivation. Some regions were affected more severely, others less. It is very difficult to draw a general conclusion about the situation until the data are revealed. Overall, the harvest was normal for most crops – I mean vegetable growing," Kochlamazashvili notes.

He also summed up the challenges in viticulture, pointing out that the primary issue this year stemmed from climatic conditions that hindered sugar accumulation in the grapes.

"It is very difficult to predict what 2026 will be like, given that farming is typically done outdoors, and fewer crops are grown in greenhouses and protected areas. A number of farmers are developing greenhouses, and their harvest is relatively protected, although the farmer is still dependent on environmental conditions. Therefore, it is difficult to say what will happen next year," Rati Kochlamazashvili stresses.
