«People do not stay - we send cars to Duseti, Kaspi, Gori to bring shifts to work», - chairman of the Union of the Georgian Bread Manufacturers Malkhaz Dolidze states.

According to him, the sector is raising wages, but due to the specifics of work and pay we deal with a massive outflow of personnel.

«We have doubled the wages but people do not stay. We send cars from production to Duseti, Kaspi, Gori, and from there bring shifts to work. We don’t virtually have workers. Many have gone abroad. They are demanding higher wages. If you don’t pay the workers about 80 GEL a day, they will not stay. It’s especially hard to work in such an environment by a hot stove,» - Malkhaz Dolidze points out.

Speaking about bread price, the chairman of the Georgian Bread Manufacturers, focused on labor shortages. In his words, amid rising flour prices, high wage demands, the price of bread in the country is still low.

As a reminder, in one of the chain stores, the price of one type of bread has soards by 10 tetri. In particular, the 530-gram product now costs 1.30 GEL instead of 1.20 GEL, the 410-gram bread soared from 1 GEL to 1.10 GEL.

According to the chairman of the Georgian Bread Manufacturers Union Malkhaz Dolidze, it was the cheapest bread of one of the bakeries, which is presented in only one network store. However, non-chain stores arbitrarily increased the price of bread.

«Bread did not increase in price. A bakery changed the price for one assortment. Price hikes are when the price of bread increases massively. Please explain this accurately. The change in price for one assortment is due to the fact that flour has increased greatly. The sack of flour costs 60 GEL, last year it cost 50.

«It is necessary to ask in chain stores, otherwise when non-branded  shops hear that the price of one variety of bread has increased, they take and arbitrarily increase the price », Dolidze notes.
