Passenger Traffic in Georgia's Airports Increased by 43,4%

Passenger traffic in Georgia's airports increased by 43.43% in 2017. According to the Civil Aviation Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, in 2017 Georgian airports carried 4 073 959 passengers by regular and charter flights which is 43.43% more  than in  2016 (2 840 455 passengers).

In 2017, Tbilisi International Airport served 3 164 139 passengers, which is 40.47% (911 604 passengers) more than in 2016 (2 252 535 passengers).

Batumi International Airport handled 495 668 passengers which is 58.69% (183 325 passengers) more than in 2016 (312 343 passengers).

Passenger traffic at Kutaisi International Airport increased by 49.31% and  totaled 405 173 passengers - 133 810 passengers more than in 2016.


As for local destination airports, Mestia airport served 7,256 passengers in  2017, 3,042 passengers or 72.19% more than in 2016 (4 214). Ambrolauri airport received the first passengers in 2017 and their number reached  1 723 .

In  2017, more than 5 637 flights were carried out in Georgian airports in 2016. The number of passenger and freight flights amounted to  20,205, out of which  regular flights- 17,852 and charters-  3 103 that is  36.80% more  compared to the same period of the previous year.
