Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated in a post on X that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, attributing disruptions in maritime traffic to security concerns rather than Iranian actions.

The Strait of Hormuz is not closed. Ships are hesitant because insurers fear the war of choice initiated by you—not Iran,” Araghchi wrote.
He added that continued threats would not influence either insurers or the Iranian public, urging a shift in approach. “No insurer—and no Iranian—will be swayed by more threats. Try respect,” he said.
Araghchi also emphasized the link between maritime passage and global commerce, stating: “Freedom of navigation cannot exist without freedom of trade. Respect both—or expect neither.”
