The Georgian Airports Association (GAA) has announced that Kazakh airline Scat Airlines has operated its inaugural direct flight from Shymkent to Tbilisi.

The airline will now operate twice-weekly flights connecting Shymkent and Tbilisi. The first flight from Shymkent to Tbilisi International Airport, and vice versa, carried 166 passengers.

The event celebrating the inaugural flight at Tbilisi International Airport was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, Director General of the Airports Association, Levan Moseshvili, General Manager of TAV Georgia, Tea Zakharadze, as well as representatives from the Civil Aviation Agency and Scat Airlines.

Kazakhstan’s role as a strategic partner for Georgia, playing a vital role in the Middle Corridor through economic, transit, and logistics cooperation, was emphasised during the ceremony.

Passenger traffic between Georgia and Kazakhstan continues to grow annually. In the first 11 months, Georgian airports handled over 304,000 passengers, a 10% increase compared to last year,” the Georgian Airports Association stated.
