The volume of loans issued by commercial banks (excluding interbank loans) in August 2023 increased by 226.32 million GEL or by 0.47% compared to the previous month (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.89%) and constituted 48.02 billion GEL by the end of August 2023. The volume of loans in national currency increased by 409.48 million GEL (1.57%) and the volume of loans in foreign currency decreased by 183.15 million GEL or by 0.84% in the same period (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.08%).
By the end of August 2023, the total volume of national currency denominated loans to resident legal entities issued by commercial banks amounted to 7.68 billion GEL (2.32% more compared to the previous month), and foreign currency denominated loans constituted 13.37 billion GEL (0.79% less; exchange rate effect excluded volume of lending in foreign currency increased by 0.14%).
During August 2023, the volume of lending to resident household sector increased by 0.55% or 139.22 million GEL, and constituted 25.53 billion GEL by the end of August 2023.
Larization ratio for total loans constituted 55.07% by the end of August 2023 and increased by 0.60 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.37 percentage point), compared to the end of July 2023.
