According to data for January-June 2025, Russian tourists spent $307.8 million in Georgia. Russian citizens rank first among foreign tourists in terms of expenditures. The second place is occupied by tourists from the European Union countries, who spent 277.1 million USD in Georgia in the first half of this year- the National Bank of Georgia reports. According to the National Bank, from January to June 2025, the country's total income from inbound tourism totaled $1.971 billion.
As of 1 July 2025, 20% of Russian citizens in Georgia have obtained resident status by residing in the country continuously for more than twelve months. According to Georgian legislation, all persons staying in the country for less than one year are considered international travellers and are not required to register as residents.
Tourism revenues do not include resident expenditures. About 100,000 Russian citizens moved to Georgia in the autumn of 2022 after the announcement of mobilization in Russia, although many have since either returned home or moved to another country.
