The European Union must resume negotiations on Türkiye's integration, as it needs such "a dynamic and solution-oriented member," Anadolu reports.

In particular, the Turkish President emphasized that the EU should not wait a single day to resume and advance accession talks with Türkiye.

"We expect them to understand that it is not possible to advance relations with the ambivalent attitude we have seen so many times before. Considering the events in Europe and its surroundings, as well as the differences of opinion within the EU, it will become clear that the union needs a dynamic and solution-oriented member such as Türkiye," Erdoğan stated.

The President of Türkiye also added that his country is ready for full membership, and that "breaking free from outdated, obsessive political views could be a move that embraces a new era for the European Union."

Türkiye applied for EU membership back in 1987 and was granted candidate status in 1999. Membership negotiations officially began in 2005, but the process has been challenging from the start due to numerous political, economic, and legal differences between Türkiye and the EU.
