As of October 2023, Georgia’s state foreign debt stood at $ 8.44 billion that is $760 million more than in the same period of last year.
Despite such an increase in the debt in dollars, the state debt in the lari increased by GEL 1.51 billion due to the strengthening of the exchange rate compared to the previous year.
The Asian Development Bank's (ADB) credit ranks first in Georgia's foreign debt which the country took to develop the largest infrastructure projects. The World Bank Group is in second place, the WB credits are mainly used for infrastructure projects as well. The European Investment Bank is in third place.
