Some in the auto industry are saying that the US tariffs on imported cars introduced in the first half of this year, are also affecting the Georgian market.

According to the head of Sales at "Caucasus Autoimport", the US trade policy has had a greater impact on relatively budget-friendly cars.

In Alexander Vekua’s words, prices for imported used cars of this type have increased by about 15%."

"Prices for cars that are in very high demand have risen noticeably, by about 10-15%. After the introduction of this regulation in the US, there was a rapid effect, and cars suddenly became more expensive. In other ways, I would not say that the change in US policy has affected car prices. However, we cannot compare this period of last year with the current one, because the US introduced tariffs this year," notes Alexander Vekua.

In terms of sales , Caucasus Auto Import says that in the current year sales have grown. Their company, in particular, has observed a 20% increase in vehicle imports and a 10% increase in re-exports within an 11-month period.
