US President Donald Trump has reportedly warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a call about resuming fighting with Iran.

The US news outlet Axios quoted Trump on Monday as saying he told Netanyahu that "if he went back to war with Iran, he might find himself fighting alone."

Iran and Israel had engaged in their first major confrontation since declaring a ceasefire in April. They halted attacks after an appeal from Trump.

On Sunday, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it launched missiles at Israel in retaliation for Israel's attacks on southern Lebanon. Israeli troops then hit Iranian facilities, including a chemical plant in southwestern Iran on Monday.

Trump was reportedly furious at Netanyahu several days earlier, but Axios quoted officials as saying that Monday's call was much calmer.

Al Jazeera reports that attacks by Israeli troops continued in southern Lebanon and at least 10 people died in the area on Monday.

Israeli troops have warned residents in some areas of southern Lebanon to evacuate and remain poised to attack. The Iran-backed Shia Muslim group Hezbollah has said it attacked Israeli vehicles and soldiers in Lebanon in retaliation on Monday.

Trump said on social media on Monday that progress was being made in talks with Iran. But Iran's protests over the situation in Lebanon may affect developments.
