US President Donald Trump has extended the ban on Russian ships entering US ports for another year. According to the US Federal Register, this includes vessels that are in some way connected to Russia.
The document, which is currently posted on the Federal Register website, states that the policies and actions of the Russian government continue to constitute a national emergency caused by a violation or threatened violation of international relations with the United States.
The restriction will remain in effect for at least another 1 year. The document will be officially published on April 17.
"I am continuing for 1 year the national emergency with respect to the Russian Federation and the emergency authority relating to the regulation of the anchorage and movement of Russian-affiliated vessels to United States ports set out in Proclamation 10371," the document says.
On April 21, 2022, the United States imposed a ban on Russian vessels entering American ports. The goal was to strengthen the international isolation of Russia, which does not stop its armed aggression against Ukraine.
