The countries of the European Union (EU) have prepared unprecedented new sanctions against Russia. This was announced on June 17 by French President Emmanuel Macron following the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada.
"Our common position is that we need to strengthen restrictions, which the Europeans have done by proposing new, unprecedented and much tougher sanctions. This is what American senators are preparing," he said.
According to the head of France, US President Donald Trump supported the sanctions, but "did not want to act alone," as it is strategically necessary for Washington to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
Bloomberg reported on June 17 that Trump had disappointed the G7 leaders. His refusal to tighten sanctions against Russia did not please the allies. The head of Washington noted that restrictions on Moscow cost the United States a large amount of money.
