Latvia has stopped accepting applications for all types of visas from Russians. This is due to the unstable internal political situation in Russia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic explained. This was reported TASS with reference to the press service of the department.
“Due to the unpredictable development of internal political events in Russia, since June 26, the diplomatic and consular missions of Latvia abroad have stopped accepting all types of visa applications from Russian citizens,” the statement said.
At the same time, documents submitted before June 25 will be considered to the end.
Earlier this decision of the Latvian authorities was announced by the President of the country Edgars Rinkevics. According to him, this is due to an attempted rebellion by Wagner PMC, which took place last Saturday.
According to the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, the European Union does not currently have a strategy in case of “political instability” in Russia, but recent events are forcing it to be developed as soon as possible.
