On June 5 in Budapest, the Hungarian government announced that starting Friday it will stop issuing work visas to workers from the Philippines, Georgia, and Armenia, calling it the first step toward regulating the influx of migrant workers.
According to the government’s press service, this measure is aimed at beginning a long-term reform of the labor market and the control of guest worker inflows, focusing on balancing the needs of business with protecting local workers.
