Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths has forecast record-breaking expansion for Dubai’s aviation sector, with Dubai International Airport (DXB) set to welcome 95.3 million passengers by the end of 2025 — a new milestone for the world’s busiest international hub.
Griffiths noted that Dubai International Airport has maintained its position as the world’s busiest international airport for 11 consecutive years and is on track to reach 100 million passengers by 2027.
He added, “By the end of 2031, passenger numbers are expected to approach 115 million, and by 2032, operations will shift to Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) to accommodate approximately 124 million passengers.”
Griffiths stated that this year’s Dubai Airshow will be the largest and most remarkable since its launch, describing it as the world’s leading aviation event and a global platform for showcasing the latest innovations in aerospace and defence.
He mentioned that the event will highlight new technologies in vertical take-off and landing electric aircraft, space exploration, and advanced defence systems, underscoring Dubai’s rising prominence within the global aviation landscape.
Griffiths further noted that Al Maktoum International Airport has been operational since 2010, primarily managing cargo, executive, charter, and limited scheduled flights, as Dubai strengthens its dual-airport strategy in preparation for a full operational transition.
