Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, is receiving all necessary treatment to stabilize his hemodynamic indicators, the Caucasus Medical Centre said.

According to the Caucasus Medical Centre Director Sopio Aspanidze, the patient is currently placed in the critical medical department on artificial ventilation.

The patient was admitted with a massive gastrointestinal haemorrhage. He underwent all diagnostic procedures to stop haemorrhage. He is currently placed in the critical medical department on artificial ventilation. The patient’s hemodynamic indicators are unstable, requiring close monitoring. However, the multi-profile team is doing its best to stabilize the indicators.

The patient applied to us at approximately 3 a.m. The patriarch underwent an endoscopy procedure. He is currently intubated. This is a state of sleep induced by us to allow to stabilize hemodynamic indicators,” she said.
