"Georgian Dream", in addition to the ban on wearing masks during protests, plans to implement regulations related to pyrotechnics - their import and sale.
As the chairman of the parliament Shalva Papuashvili told the journalists, the current events showed that it is important to keep this area in order.
Parliament will take a decision on the mentioned issues this week.
"We have seen many demonstrations and rallies when the demonstrators were disguised. It always raised questions about the motivation behind these people. Such regulations apply in most EU countries as well as in the USA. The idea is simple - on the one hand, it should be possible to identify people, on the other hand, when a person is disguised and feels that it is difficult to identify him, he is certainly more daring in breaking the law and aggression. So we follow the best practices that exist in Europe. We will take the lightest regulations.
In this regard, there are regulations in some EU countries where face covering is completely prohibited in public spaces. We follow lighter regulations when such restrictions apply only during gatherings", said Shalva Papuashvili.
As for pyrotechnics, Papuashvili emphasized in this context that the introduction of regulations regarding it was requested in the past years.
"In the past years, people who were worried about birds or animals talked about this, and in the New Year they urged us not to use pyrotechnics to warn the birds. For the last week, it seems that the broken-hearted birds in Rustaveli were less important for representatives of NGOs and animal rights protection, they serve such high matters with their presentation.
These regulations have long been the subject of judgment in the parliament, and these events have shown us that we need to act quickly both in the issues of pyrotechnics regulation, as well as in the prohibition of disguises during public gatherings," Papuashvili said.
