Our government remains committed to the peaceful path of restoration of territorial integrity and unification of the country, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, wrote on the social network, responding to the 15th anniversary of the August war.
According to the Prime Minister, the Russian military aggression resulted in human casualties, forced displacement of civilians and temporary occupation of our territories, which still remains the main challenge.
"It has been 15 years since the beginning of the August 2008 war; today is a special day for all of us - Russian military aggression resulted in large human casualties, forced displacement of civilians and temporary occupation of our territories, which still remains the main challenge for the sovereignty and further development of our country. Once again we will honor the clear memory of our heroic soldiers and civilians who died in the war. Our government remains committed to the peaceful path of restoring territorial integrity and reunification of the country; we are driven by the unwavering belief that a peaceful, united, strong, developed Georgia is the best prospect for Georgians, Ossetians, Abkhazians, for all the people living on our land, and we are doing everything to make this goal a reality soon," Gharibashvili wrote.
