It is important for our country to renew the strategic partnership with the US, and this will depend from beginning to end on who wins the duel between President Trump and the "Deep State". Let's hope that President Trump will win, but we are ready for all scenarios, we will defend our national interests, - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated on the Imedi LIVE program.
As the head of government noted, in Romania, with the support of the European bureaucracy, the elections were canceled once, and what happened there once, is happening in Georgia on an ongoing basis.
According to him, "the silence about what we see is incomprehensible."
In addition, Kobakhidze says that they have always been ready for all scenarios.
"If we take the last few years, what has been happening in Georgia since 2020 - non-recognition of one election, non-recognition of another, negotiations, the opposition's failure to enter parliament, non-recognition of legitimacy, non-congratulations, the usual Soviet methods. We absolutely do not understand the silence that we see from the new US administration, and because of this, we decided to address the Trump administration with an open letter. We hope that there will be a reaction, although we will see, it will all depend on who wins the duel between the Trump administration and the "Deep State". An obvious battle will take place. We hope that President Trump will win, although we do not rule out the second version. In general, we have always been ready for all scenarios, we were even ready for the victory of President Trump's opponent, which, naturally, would be the worst scenario. Leaving everything aside, Trump's victory has already brought us very significant benefits. Do you remember the campaign they had against the Transparency Law? They called it the Russian Law, they used a thousand epithets to describe this law, and they forbade us from even thinking that someone from the West could finance something bad in our country. President Trump came, his administration, and they directly stated what we had to prove to the public. They directly admitted that, specifically, through USAID, NED, and other funds, revolutionary processes were being planned in various countries and unrest was being promoted. This is already a great benefit that Trump's victory brought us, for which we can already say thank you. But, of course, for our society, for our country, the renewal of the strategic partnership with the US is important, and it will depend from beginning to end on who wins this duel between President Trump and the "Deep State". Let's keep the hope that President Trump will win, although we are ready for all scenarios. We We will defend our national interests to the end. If we recall these years once again, when the "Deep State" ruled the USA, 2020-2024, then we defended our national interests to the end, we will not give up on this under any scenario. If Trump wins, the situation will be much simpler for us and our national interests will be better protected in this case. For the rest, we must wait for the development of events,” the Prime Minister said.
Also, Kobakhidze answered the host’s question, “If there is no response, no reaction to his letter from the US administration, what will it indicate?” According to Kobakhidze, “this will indicate that the "Deep State" cannot be defeated, cannot be weakened by the Trump administration.”
"Accordingly, under such conditions, we will have more challenges in Georgian-American relations, but for four years we had to defend our national interests in much more difficult circumstances and were prepared for the worst-case scenario, which was the election of Trump's opponent and, accordingly, the "Deep State" remaining in the American government. In this case too, we would definitely defend our national interests. It's simple: if Trump weakens the "Deep State", in this case, Georgian-American relations will be overloaded, if he fails to weaken it, in this case the status quo will remain. Even under the conditions of the status quo, we will defend the country's national interests to the end," Kobakhidze said.
To the host's remark that they will remain in the "unilateral friendship" mode, Kobakhidze said: "Of course, we are used to this situation with everyone, including the US. We hope that this friendship will not be unilateral, but let's see, it does not depend on us."
