The 20,000th China to Europe cargo train via the Middle Corridor has officially departed.
The milestone train set off from the Erenhot Railway Station, located in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of northern China. It consists of 55 containers.
The number of cargo trains using the Middle Corridor has surged over the past three years. Although the route has been operational since 2013, the 10,000th train was recorded only in 2022. In just three years, that figure has doubled, reaching 20,000.
Connecting Asia and Europe, the Middle Corridor is a strategic trade and transport route that stretches from China through Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye, ultimately reaching Europe. This route offers a land-based alternative to maritime shipping, significantly reducing delivery time and distance.
The Middle Corridor not only expands economic ties among regional countries but also strengthens its position as a vital alternative in the global trade logistics network.
