The National Statistics Service of Georgia has started publishing a new indicator, the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, since 2022.



According to Sakstat, using this methodology, inflation in May 2025 amounted to 3.5 percent, which is identical to the 3.5 percent inflation calculated using the national methodology.

As for individual components, according to the EU HICP methodology, the percentage change compared to the corresponding period in 2024 is distributed as follows: Food and non-alcoholic beverages – 7.0%; Alcoholic beverages, tobacco – 3.4%; Clothing and footwear – 0.5%; Housing, water, electricity, gas and other heating – 0.8%; Furniture, household goods and decorations, home maintenance and repair – -2.5%; Health care – 9.1%; Transport – -4.1%; Communication, – -12.5%; Recreation, entertainment and culture – 1.8%; Education – 5.2%; Hotels, cafes and restaurants – 6.1%; Miscellaneous goods and services – 6.5%.
