In 2023, $23 million worth of dog and cat food were brought into Georgia (15 thousand tons) that is 21% more than in 2022. In 2022, $19 million worth of food were imported to the country (15,000 tons).
As per Sakstat data, the top five importers of packaged dog and cat food for retail trade have remained almost unchanged in the last 2 years.
The top five in 2022 is as follows:
• "Akva-Terra" LLC
Founded in 2002, director - Giorgi Medulashvili, 50-50% of the company is owned by Giorgi Medulashvili and Davit Medulashvili.
• "Vet-dez-novation" LLC
Founded in 2009. Director Vakhtang Sakvarelidze and Kakhaber Tomashvili, they also own 50-50% shares of the company.
• "Zoolife +" LLC
Founded in 2009. Director Natalya Ochigawa. Natalia Ochigawa and Tamar Tsobekhia own a 50-50% share.
• "Zoomart"
LLC Founded in 2011, director and 100% shareholder is Tornike Elizbarashvili.
• "Nestle Georgia" LLC
Founded in 2014. General Director, Russian citizen Ekaterina Yushkevich, 100% of the company's shares are owned by Societe de Produi Nestlé, a joint-stock company based in Switzerland.
In 2023, there is only one change in the top five, "Zoolife +" LLC was replaced by "Invetim" LLC.
