Georgia-US economic ties have been characterized by a growing trend in recent years.
In 2015-2023, Georgia's trade turnover with the USA increased six-fold mainly due to significant car imports growth from the US recorded especially in 2023. Apart from that, the U.S. share to Georgia’s total trade turnover is steadily increasing- PMC Center reports.
From 2015 to 2023, direct foreign investments from the USA increased almost 10-fold. From 2015 to 2023, direct foreign investments from the USA to Georgia stood at $826.5 million. FDI flows experienced consistent growth throughout the period, except in 2020 and 2021 when the COVID-19 pandemic hampered investment.
From 2015 to 2023, money transfers from the USA soared almost 5 times, in July-August 2024, remittances from the country even surpassed Russia and Italy which accounted the largest volume of money transfers.The highest growth in remittances in the last nine years was recorded in 2023, when the amount transferred from the US increased by 41%.
