The agency has started monitoring of the blueberry market since June 30, 2023.

According to the agency’s interim estimates, up to 50 companies exported blueberries from Georgia in 2020-2023. The Russian Federation accounts for 90% of the total exports.

In 2020-2022, the market had low export concentration, in 2023 the index increased to moderate market concentration.

Export volumes of blueberries have increased. In particular, in 2020 the total export volume stood at 654.9 tons, in 2023 it rocketed by 500% to 3 412 tons.

Along with the quantitative indicators, the total value of exports also increased. In particular, in 2020, blueberry exports amounted to $11.3 million, in 2021 - $17.5 million, in 2022 - $23.8 million, the total export value in 2023 stood at $53.9 million (a 475% growth).

The share of the top 5 companies at the export market ranges from 43% to 65% during the period under study. The market has no dominant economic agent as well as none of the conditions to have a group dominant position.

The agency continues to monitor the blueberry market, the final report is planned to be prepared in 2024.
