“I hope that the practice of application of anti-dumping laws will expand,” Nikoloz Khundzakishvili, Corporate Affairs Director at Efes Georgia, states.
According to Khundzakishvili, the beer and lemonade production in Georgia doesn’t face problems with dumping.
“Our sector does not have the problem with dumping, but a risk always exists. We demanded the introduction of anti-dumping law as a kind of prevention of unfair imports or unfair trade in the country. We believe that such a law is a very good step forward for the country, including in terms of the association with the EU,” he says.
In the words of Irakli Lekvinadze, chairman of the Competition Agency, in the past three months, the Agency has been studying dumping in several sectors of the country’s economy, studying of the situation in some sectors is still underway.
The anti-dumping law was passed by Parliament in 2020 and entered into force in 2021.
