Kutaisi International Airport is the only Georgian airport which set record in 2023 in terms of passenger traffic.
The airport’s overall traffic has exceeded the pre-pandemic levels and doubled passenger traffic. According to the Director General of the United Airports of Georgia Irakli Karkashadze, 2023 has become a historic year for Georgian civil aviation, and in particular for Kutaisi Airport.
In 2023, passenger traffic at Georgian airports hit 6 million. Tbilisi and Batumi international airports have recovered the pre-pandemic levels but at Kutaisi airport the passenger traffic has doubled compared to 2019.
“In 2023, Kutaisi International Airport reached its highest point in passenger traffic. It handled 1.7 million passengers that gives us grounds to believe that 2024 will be even more successful. We expect that this year will be even more successful for Kutaisi Airport and we will significantly improve our record,” Irakli Karkashadze notes.
Kutaisi International Airport is the country’s second largest airport which operates the largest number of direct flights to Europe. According to the United Airports of Georgia, currently five airline companies operate flights to 39 destinations of 20 countries from the Airport.
