US President Donald Trump said that it is Ukraine, not Russia, that is blocking a potential peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. This statement is in stark contrast to the European Union's statement, which has always claimed that Moscow has little interest in ending its war in Ukraine.

On the same day, during an interview in the Oval Office, Trump said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to end this military operation against Ukraine, which has continued for nearly four years, while Ukrainian President Zelensky seemed even more hesitant.

Referring to Putin, he said, “I think he (Putin) is ready to reach an agreement, and I don't think Ukraine is willing to reach an agreement.” When asked why US-led negotiations have yet to resolve Europe's biggest land conflict since World War II, Trump answered, “Zelensky.”
