US President Donald Trump will hold an interview with BlackRock top manager Rickard Reeder for the post of chairman of the Federal Reserve System (FRS). This was reported on January 12 by Fox Business TV channel, citing sources.
"The interview with Reeder will take place on Thursday at the White House. It will be attended by Trump, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino," the material says.
It is noted that this will be the fourth and last interview with the candidate to replace current Fed Chairman Jerome Powell. His term of office as Chairman expires on May 15. He was nominated by Trump to head the Fed in 2017 and confirmed in 2018.
Earlier, the American president announced that he would choose the head of the Federal Reserve in January 2026.
On the same day, it became known that the US Attorney's Office had launched a criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. According to official data, this is due to the reconstruction of the regulator's headquarters.
Powell said that the US Department of Justice had threatened him with criminal charges. According to him, the pressure is being exerted by the Trump administration due to the interest rates set by the Fed.
