US President Donald Trump has said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky can end the war with Russia immediately "if he wants to," but he has ruled out Ukraine joining NATO or returning the Crimean peninsula. Crimea was illegally annexed by Russia in 2014.
Trump made a post on "Truth Social" hours before meeting in Washington with Zelensky, who will be accompanied by key European leaders, reports "BBC".
"Ukrainian President Zelensky can end the war with Russia almost immediately if he wants to, or he can continue to fight. Remember how it started. No return of Crimea as given by Obama (12 years ago, without a shot fired!), no Ukraine joining NATO. Some things never change!!!" – Trump wrote.
