Tesla sales tumbled for a third straight month in France, according to data released a day ahead of the electric-vehicle maker’s quarterly report on deliveries.

The French trade association PFA reported sales for Tesla fell 37% in March and are down 41% this year.

French vehicle sales tumbled 15% in March and are down 8% for the year.

The news was similar in Sweden, where Tesla sales plunged 64% in March.

Not every European market was a disaster — in Italy for instance, deliveries surged 51% in March, though they’re still down 7% for the first quarter.

CEO Elon Musk’s political backing for President Donald Trump as well as right-wing parties in Europe has alienated buyers, while the company also has been impacted by the launch of a new version of its Model Y.

While Europe is not a major market for Tesla, the Texas-based automobile maker also is facing a backlash in its home market in the U.S. while under threat from intensified competition in its second-biggest market of China.

Tesla is due to report first-quarter deliveries data on Wednesday, with analysts polled by Visible Alpha expecting 393,000 deliveries, a rise of about 2% from the year-ago quarter. The consensus expectation is for sales in Europe overall to slide by 29%.
