The state's priority remains the continuous growth of quality and the development of new markets. Our goal is for the world to recognize Georgian wine as a premium-class product that continues an 8,000-year-old tradition with constant development, - the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze said in his speech at the conference dedicated to the National Wine Day.
As the head of government noted, today there are about 3 thousand registered wineries and companies in Georgia, which strengthens the regions and creates new jobs.
“Our winemaking is a powerful and modern industry today. Over the past decade, as a result of our targeted efforts, the export geography has doubled, and today Georgian wine is already represented on the markets of 70 countries. The scale is impressive: in 2025, up to 90 million liters of wine were exported, the value of which reached 268 million dollars. This dynamics continues in 2026.
State policy has also significantly contributed to the fact that the number of producers has increased almost 30 times. It is especially gratifying that a new generation is getting involved in this business. Today, there are about 3 thousand registered wineries and companies in Georgia, which strengthens our regions and creates new jobs. The growth is especially noticeable in the part of small and family wineries, which, as a result of state support and market diversification, have been able to export their products.
The state’s priority remains the continuous increase in quality and the creation of new market penetration. Our goal is for the world to recognize Georgian wine as a premium product that continues an 8,000-year-old tradition with constant development.
I believe that with the joint efforts of us, the state, winegrowers and winemakers, Georgian grapes will continue to be the calling card of our country, a guarantee of economic strength and international recognition,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
