Kazakhstan may open a new trade route to Turkey via Armenia.

Kazakhstan's Minister of Economy, Serik Jumangarin, announced this to journalists on Friday.

According to him, the route passing through Armenian territory will provide Astana with direct access to Turkish ports.

"Currently, we go to Georgia's Black Sea ports via Azerbaijan. The new route will provide access to Nakhchivan, and then directly to Turkey, to its seaports," the minister noted.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is currently on an official visit to Kazakhstan.
