The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on the basis of the Law of Georgia "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons", in the months of April-May of this year, ensured the arrest and expulsion of 42 citizens of different countries. The Ministry of Internal Affairs disseminates information about this.

According to the agency's explanation, some of the arrested persons left Georgia voluntarily, while some of them were forcibly expelled from Georgia as a result of the measures taken by the Migration Department.

On the basis of the Law of Georgia "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons", in total 42 citizens of the Republic of Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Armenia, the Russian Federation, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt and other foreign countries were expelled from the country.

Among the expelled persons are 8 minor citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who entered Georgia and were in the country without a legal basis, who were involved in various anti-social activities.

"The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the body responsible for the fight against illegal migration within the country. Its main competence is to identify foreign citizens who are in Georgia without a legal basis and to carry out their expulsion from Georgia", - it is noted in the information of the press service.
