Surrogacy and in vitro fertilization account for 70% of medical tourism,” health expert Vato Surguladze says.
According to Surguladze, foreigners who want to have a child using a surrogate mother come to Georgia, rent hotels, cars, spend a lot of money bringing benefits to both business and the state.
“In vitro fertilization in Turkey is at a very high level as well as in France and Germany. This field can be regulated, but our government will not be able to do this. Surrogacy is allowed in Israel, several US states, Mexico, Australia, and some European countries. Unfortunately, the law to ban surrogacy for foreigners will be put into effect in Georgia as the government will not abandon it,” he notes.
