According to Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, funding for healthcare and social protection programs has been increased by over 800 million GEL in the draft budget for the next year. He made this statement while presenting the draft budget in parliament.
He stated that as part of the program:
In 2026, the pension for Georgians aged 70 and over will increase by 45 GEL, reaching 495 GEL per month, while those under 70 will see a 20 GEL increase, bringing their pension to 370 GEL. For pensioners in mountainous areas, the new pensions will be 594 GEL and 444 GEL respectively.
Pensioners aged 70 and over: The pension will increase by 45 GEL, making the new monthly amount 495 GEL.
Pensioners under 70: The pension will increase by 20 GEL, resulting in a new monthly amount of 370 GEL.
Mountainous settlements: Pensioners in these areas will receive an additional supplement, with the new amounts being 594 GEL for those 70 and over and 444 GEL for those under 70.
The draft also provides for higher social assistance to people with disabilities. Monthly support for persons with disabilities under the age of 18 will rise by 45 GEL, while for other categories of persons with disabilities the increase will amount to 20 GEL.
In total, funding for social programs is projected at 7 billion GEL. Of this, over 2.1 billion GEL is earmarked for healthcare, including a 10% salary increase for primary healthcare staff. Additionally, 240 million GEL will be directed toward housing programs for internally displaced persons.
The government has already submitted the initial version of the 2026 budget to parliament.
